Master Linnell

Master Victoria Linnell enjoys a lifelong love of Tae Kwon Do. In her teen years, she trained with Grandmaster Yeon Hee Park in East Meadow, New York. She joined S. H. Kim U.S. Tae Kwon Do shortly after its inception, trained with Master Shepler, earned a black belt, and later became an instructor. Master Linnell's background includes self-defense, weapon disarm, and CDT (Compliance, Direction, and Takedown). In 2011 she attained 4th degree black belt rank.

As a mom who lives in McLean, Master Linnell knows firsthand the lifestyles of Northern Virginia's talented youth. Many of her students, aided by values that Tae Kwon Do instilled, have gone on to success at top colleges and productive careers. At S.H. Kim U.S. Tae Kwon Do, she led classes, assisted at belt tests, and served as webmaster. She moved to Florida in 2015 to care for her mother.

Master Shepler began training in martial arts over 25 years ago to learn self defense. Today she is widely regarded as one of the best martial arts teachers in Virginia.

Master Shepler started her training and earned her first black belt in Moo Duk Kwan from Master Middleton and Grandmaster Ki Whang Kim. During her first summer at Grandmaster Kim's martial arts summer camp, she won the Best Student award.

Master Shepler continued training in Tae Kwon Do and also studied Hapkido, kickboxing, and self defense. She has taught Tae Kwon Do, self defense, and cardio kickboxing at several martial arts schools and at seminars in the metropolitan Washington, DC area. She has participated in demonstrations on local TV and at colleges and K-12 schools throughout the area. As senior master, she is an examiner at belt tests. Master Shepler taught at SH Kim US Tae Kwon Do in McLean, VA since it opened. In 2006 she moved out of the area, but she sometimes visited and assisted Master Kim in grading students at belt tests.

Master Williams

Master Williams

Master Vern Williams brings instructional expertise that extends beyond the martial arts to encompass middle school mathematics. Starting in the mid 1970s, he trained in Moo Duk Kwan ("School of Martial Virtue") Tang Soo Do ("Chinese hand way") under Grandmaster Ki Whang Kim, who led the unification of several Korean martial arts into modern Tae Kwon Do. Later, under Grandmaster James K. Roberts Sr., Master Williams rose to senior instructor rank. After teaching at Bushido Studios, he chose to train under Master Soon Ho Kim.

For over 30 years, talented youth in the McLean area (including many S.H. Kim U.S. Tae Kwon Do students) have learned math from Master Williams. As one of 17 experts appointed to the National Mathematics Advisory Panel created by the President of the United States, he advised on "the best use of scientifically based research to advance the teaching and learning of mathematics." He earned two awards for distinguished teaching from the Mathematical Association of America and coached MATHCOUNTS teams to regional, state, and national victories.
